What's happening
At The Indian Public School, no student walks their learning journey alone. A dedicated network of teachers, counsellors, mentors and specialist staff work together to understand each child as an individual, supporting both academic progress and emotional wellbeing. From personalised learning support and structured pastoral care to ongoing counselling and guidance, every system is designed to help learners feel safe, heard and empowered to thrive.
Each day starts with a calm, 10‑minute check‑in where learners practice mindfulness, meditation and emotional grounding, and ends with a check‑out that helps them reflect and regulate their feelings. School‑wide Mental Health Day activities and discussions normalise talking about emotions and teach positive coping strategies. Throughout the year, learners access individual or group counselling with a trained school counsellor.
A dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) framework ensures that learners with diverse needs are identified early and supported through personalised Individualised Education Plans (IEPs). As one of the best private schools in Erode, progress is monitored closely through weekly review meetings, with Minutes of Meetings documented for every SEN discussion. Coordinators, counsellors, the SEN team, teachers and parents work as one team, adapting classroom instruction and environments rather than separating or labelling learners. SEN learners are fully included in the mainstream TIPS community while receiving the targeted support.
Each teacher mentors a small group of just 5–6 learners, creating a safe, trusted space where learners can share worries, ask questions and talk openly about school or life. Conversations remain confidential, with information shared only when safeguarding requires it. This close, ongoing relationship allows teachers to spot concerns early, step in with timely help and build strong bonds that make learners feel seen, valued and never alone in their journey.
Our school counselling service is a safe, calm sanctuary where learners can seek support. They may be referred by teachers or parents, or can simply walk in to meet the counsellor. A trained professional listens without judgement, helping them navigate difficult feelings and everyday challenges so they feel heard, supported and ready to cope.
One-to-one sessions
One-to-one counselling offers personalised emotional and academic support, tailored to each student’s needs. At our IB school in Erode, sessions are confidential, with parents informed and guided where appropriate to ensure a safe, joined‑up approach.
Progress monitoring
Progress is reviewed regularly, with support continuing until learners can manage independently. When needed, teachers and parents are involved through clear referral and follow‑up, with all records handled sensitively.
Student safeguarding
At TIPS Erode International, safeguarding is at the heart of our counselling service. A clear, structured process ensures any concern is identified early, triaged and addressed promptly, with appropriate escalation to school leaders and parents where needed.
360° support
Counsellors support learners through a wide range of challenges – from adjusting to a new environment and coping with family stress, loss or bullying, to sudden changes in mood, sleep or appetite, addictions, learning difficulties and a sharp dip in academic performance.
Hear directly from our learners as they share how these initiatives are shaping their academic journey, building their confidence and enriching their lives both in and beyond the classroom.

At TIPS Erode International, we believe that every child is a capable, unique learner with individual strengths, needs, and aspirations. Our inclusion philosophy is built on the principle that all students — regardless of their learning profile, background, or ability — deserve access to a high-quality international education in a nurturing, respectful environment. Our dedicated Learning Support team works in close partnership with class teachers, parents, and students to ensure every learner is seen, heard, and supported to thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally.
Identification begins early and is an ongoing process. Our teachers are trained to observe and record signs of learning differences during day-to-day classroom interactions. When a concern is identified, our Learning Support Coordinator conducts a structured assessment to better understand the student's learning profile. This may include academic screening, observations, and where appropriate, referral to specialist professionals. Parents are involved and informed throughout this process. We believe in early identification — the sooner support begins, the greater the impact on a child's confidence and progress.
Yes. TIPS Erode International has a dedicated Learning Support team comprising trained Learning Support educators and a Counsellor who collaborate closely with subject teachers across all stages of the school. Our Learning Support Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of personalised support plans and acts as the key point of contact for families whose children are receiving additional support. All members of our learning support team are committed to fostering an inclusive, compassionate school culture.
An Individual Learning Plan (ILP) — sometimes called an Individual Education Plan or Support Plan — is a personalised document that outlines a student's specific learning needs, agreed targets, the support strategies that will be used, and how progress will be measured. At TIPS Erode International, an ILP is developed for any student who has been identified as requiring additional learning support. It is created collaboratively by our Learning Support Coordinator, the class teacher, and the parents, and is reviewed regularly to reflect the student's evolving progress and needs.
The wellbeing of every student is at the heart of life at TIPS Erode International. The school has a dedicated Counsellor who provides pastoral and emotional support to students across all year groups. Students can access counselling support through self-referral, teacher referral, or parent request. Beyond individual support, our wellbeing programme is embedded into everyday school life — through PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education), mentor sessions, peer support initiatives, and a strong house and boarding pastoral structure. For boarding students, house parents play a vital role in day-to-day emotional care and early identification of wellbeing concerns.
Partnership with parents is fundamental to our inclusion approach at TIPS Erode International. We view parents as essential collaborators in their child's learning journey. When a student is identified for learning support, parents are engaged from the very beginning — through an initial conversation with the Learning Support Coordinator, involvement in ILP development, and regular progress review meetings. Parents receive updates through formal reports, direct communication from the support team, and parent-teacher meetings. We encourage open, honest dialogue at every stage so that the school and family are always working together in the best interests of the child.
Yes — and this is a core commitment of our inclusion philosophy. TIPS Erode International believes that students with additional learning needs should not be excluded from or limited within the mainstream curriculum. Our support is designed to enable full access and participation in the IB PYP and Cambridge programmes. This may involve differentiated teaching strategies in the classroom, modified resources, assistive tools, additional supervised study time, or small-group withdrawal sessions — but always with the goal of supporting the student to engage meaningfully with the same high-quality academic programme as their peers.
TIPS Erode International ensures that students with identified and documented learning needs receive appropriate access arrangements during internal and external examinations. These may include — subject to eligibility and Cambridge/IB regulations — additional time, rest breaks, a reader, a scribe, use of a word processor, or a separate examination room. All access arrangements are applied for and administered in accordance with the guidelines set by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). Our Learning Support Coordinator works closely with the examinations team to ensure every eligible student receives the provisions they are entitled to.
We welcome and encourage parents to reach out to us at any time — whether you have an existing concern, a diagnosis, or simply a feeling that your child may benefit from some additional support. You can contact our Learning Support Coordinator or School Counsellor directly through the school office or by emailing our admissions and support team via tipserodeinternational.org. Prospective families are welcome to discuss their child's needs prior to admission so that we can advise on how best to support them from day one. No concern is too small — early conversations lead to the best outcomes for every child.
Be part of a community that truly cares. At TIPS International, every student is included, known and genuinely heard. Discover how we make this happen.
