At TIPS Erode International, sport is a powerful part of every student’s education, not an add-on. An energetic and diverse programme invites athletes of all levels to train with purpose, embrace healthy living and develop a lifelong love of movement. From football, basketball, cricket, badminton, table tennis, swimming and track and field in the mandatory curriculum to the advanced sports programme, learners compete, grow and thrive.  

Guided by the principle of ‘student first, winning second’, dedicated coaches champion effort, resilience and sportsmanship, nurturing confident young people ready to excel in sport, at university and beyond.

Early Years sports

Our Early Years Sports Programme is thoughtfully crafted to support the natural growth and development of young learners. Every activity is carefully adapted to their age, abilities and comfort, creating a safe and joyful space where learners feel encouraged to explore movement with confidence.

Play-based exercises

At TIPS International – Erode, play is seen as a meaningful way for learners to grow, move and learn. Through joyful and purposeful activities, they build strength and coordination by running, balancing and exploring movement, while hands-on tasks help develop fine motor control and precision.  

As they take part in simple games and mini challenges, learners also strengthen body awareness and confidence, gaining essential skills in a way that feels natural, active and fun. 

Play-based exercises

KG1

For our youngest learners, the focus is on gentle exploration and discovery. Activities are simple, guided and filled with opportunities to:  

  • Build early coordination and balance
  • Develop independence in a playful setting   
  • Engage in sensory-rich movement experiences   

Through activities like ball play, rolling paths and water-based tasks, learners begin to understand and enjoy how their bodies move.

KG2

As learners grow, the programme evolves to include more structured and collaborative experiences. KG2 learners are encouraged to: 

  • Work together and build team spirit   
  • Think, plan and solve simple movement challenges   
  • Strengthen control, balance and endurance   

With activities such as obstacle courses, dribbling games, balance walks and guided challenges, learners develop confidence while learning to take on new physical goals.

Skill development

Physical activity also becomes a foundation for wider skills development. Through shared games and guided experiences, learners learn to collaborate, support one another, listen carefully, follow instructions and stay focused. As they face small challenges and keep trying, they build confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.  

More than just activity, the programme celebrates each child’s journey by encouraging every learner to explore, participate and succeed at their own pace. 

Skill development

Primary & Secondary sports

At our international school in Tamil Nadu, our advanced sports programme gives committed student-athletes the chance to train at a more competitive level. Held after school from Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings, the programme offers specialised coaching that builds strength, skill and game understanding, helping learners progress from foundational techniques to confident performance in school teams and competitive fixtures across multiple sports.

Swimming

In the early years, free play and fun activities build water confidence and physical fitness for swimming. From Grade 1 to 5, they move from beginner skills to competitive-level training, with a strong focus on water safety. By Grade 6 to 12, swimmers refine strokes and techniques while continuing water safety training, gaining strength, confidence and readiness for higher-level performance.

Basketball

Learners progress in basketball through age-appropriate, structured coaching. They build basic skills, coordination and game awareness through fun drills and small-sided games. In cricket, athletes develop progressively from core batting, bowling and fielding skills to more advanced techniques and match awareness. Through regular practice, fitness work and game scenarios, they build consistency, accuracy and tactical understanding, growing into confident players who can perform under pressure in both practice and competitive fixtures.

In football, learners progress from mastering ball control, passing and shooting to developing tactical awareness, teamwork and positional play. In athletics, learners build a strong foundation in running, jumping and throwing before progressing to event-specific training. Through structured workouts, strength and conditioning, and regular practice, they improve speed, endurance, coordination and technique, gaining the confidence to set goals, track their progress and perform with focus in both practice and competitive meets.
